New acquisitions by the n.b.k. Video-Forum 2017

Screening in the exhibition space of n.b.k.

Founded in 1971, the n.b.k. Video-Forum with more than 1.600 works of international video art is the oldest and one of the biggest collections of video art in Germany. With the help of the artists’ funding scheme by the Berlin Senate’s Department for Culture and Europe funded by the LOTTO-Stiftung Berlin, it was once more possible for the Video-Forum to add further pieces of international video art to its collection.

The focal points of the collection of the n.b.k. Video-Forum are Fluxus, feminist video, historical and contemporary video art of Berlin, as well as approaches reflecting on the media. Key works by Marina Abramović, Rebecca Horn, Bruce Nauman, Nam June Paik, Ulrike Rosenbach, Bill Viola and Wolf Vostell dating back to the early phase of video art are represented on an equal footing with contemporary productions by Reynold Reynolds, Corinna Schnitt, Hito Steyerl, or Hague Yang. Over the last few years, a particular emphasis on art from Eastern Europe has developed, with pieces by artists such as Olga Chernysheva, Călin Dan, Oleg Kulik, Zoran Naskovski, or Tanja Ostojić. The Video-Forum regularly co-produces new works and organizes regular screenings and projects relating to video art. The works of the collection can be viewed free of charge during the opening hours.
