Dirk Bell

The diverse work of Dirk Bell (b. 1969 in Munich, living in Berlin) encompasses, apart from painting, drawing, sculpture, video and installation, also participatory forms of art production. In his work, Bell interlinks various disparate visual languages and blends allegorical motifs of different art historical periods with motifs and fragments of pop culture. In his drawings and paintings, there are both references to Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Romanticism and Minimal Art as well to fantasy illustrations of the 1980s and 1990s. Most recently his works were shown, among others, at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2015); Kunstverein Braunschweig (2014); Kunsthalle Bremen (2014); Witte de With, Rotterdam (2014; 2011); Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich (2012; 2011); Bergen Kunsthall (2010); Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel (2010).
