John Bock


After studying Business Administration John Bock (b. 1965 in Gribbohm, living and working in Berlin) completed his studies in 1997 at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Since 2004, he teaches at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe as a professor of sculpture. He creates his works from materials of everyday objects and for many years, has shown them internationally in solo and group exhibitions, among others: The National Museum of Art, Oslo (2015); Kunsthalle Krems (2012), Barbican Art Gallery, London (2010), ICA, London (2004), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (2003), documenta 11, Kassel (2002). The works by John Bock attract great attention on the international art market. For Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Bock created four sculptures from bicycle parts mounted in varied ways, which are offered far below market value.
