Luca Vitone


Luca Vitone (*1964 in Genoa/Italy, living in Milan and Berlin) in his artistic work deals with the construction and representation of sceneries and locations, and the different languages that these describe in all their geographical, political, social, cultural and poetic dimensions. Vitone’s works were shown in exhibitions including Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2014); Italian Pavilion, 55th Venice Biennale (2013); Museion, Bolzano (2013); Montevideo Biennial (2013); Fondazione Brodbeck, Catania (2012); Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt/Main (2011); 4th Tirana Biennial (2008); Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Bergamo (2008); MART, Rovereto (2007); 8th Sharjah Biennial (2007); OK Centrum, Linz (2007, 1999); Casino Luxembourg (2006); Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Vienna (2005); Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich (2001); Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome (2000); MoMA PS1, New York (2000).


His Edition Räume (Bundesgerichtshof, Karlsruhe / Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt am Main / Deutscher Bundestag, Berlin / Pergamonmuseum, Berlin) was created in the context of his solo exhibition Imperium at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (September 20 - November 9, 2014) and consists of a new series of watercolors that were painted with the dust from various institutions of state power: the economic, the judiciary, the legislative and the cultural.
