Santiago Álvarez’ short film Now!, produced in 1965 in Cuba, is a montage of black-and-white images documenting racism in the United States of America. The movie is cut to the rhythm of Lena Horne’s Now – a song that was banned from American radio because of its open call for revolt.

Madina-Boe by José Massip (Cuba 1968) shows the struggle for liberation from the Portuguese colonial rule in Guinea-Bissau. Massip documents the political implications of the training as well as the actions of fighters.
