Founded in 1969, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein has been a pivotal place in Berlin’s art scene for 50 years. Its activities are defined by the mediation of aesthetic experience as well as the dialogue between art and society, between artists and the public. The program includes exhibitions, cooperation projects with international partner institutions, events of discourse such as symposia, panel discussions, artists’ talks and concerts as well as several publication series. Located at the intersection of theory, practice and mediation, the program addresses contemporary topics and shares them with a transcultural society. Neuer Berliner Kunstverein sees itself as an educational institution. Two collections are exemplary for the educational approach: The n.b.k.’s Artothek makes more than 4,000 works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries available to private users and public institutions; the n.b.k. Video-Forum, Germany’s oldest and largest video art collection, makes over 1,700 works of international video art accessible to the general public. Neuer Berliner Kunstverein is a vivid and highly connected place on Berlin’s art scene that shapes the contemporary art discourse with far-reaching impulses. On the occasion of our 50th anniversary, we invite you to a party with live performances and music by John Bock, Arnold Dreyblatt & The Orchestra of Excited Strings (with Jörg Hiller and Oren Ambarchi), Adda Kaleh (aka Alexandra Pirici) and Luci Lippard.
