Returning to Life: Ecological thinking and pluralism in post-digital landscapes

With Thesea Rigou (artist, gardener and art educator)
“Returning to life,” as described by the contemporary philosopher Yuk Hui, signifies a reconnection with vitality and authenticity in human existence through the lens of technology. With this, Hui refers to a departure from purely profit-driven technological endeavors and a shift towards holistic approaches that prioritize well-being and interconnectedness.
This guided tour aims at highlighting those works in the exhibition A Home for Something Unknown (March 2 – April 28, 2024 at Neuer Berliner Kunstverein and Haus am Lützowplatz) that “return to life.” What ideas of life and ecology are present in the artworks? What materials, techniques and strategies are used and make these notions tangible and legible? Questions and contradictions raised by the participants will orient the course of the tour.
3 pm > Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Chausseestraße 128/129, 10115 Berlin
5 pm > Haus am Lützowplatz, Lützowplatz 9, 10785 Berlin
The guided tour will last 60 minutes at each venue and can be attended without prior booking. Visitors can choose to attend both tours consecutively or participate in just one of the tours.
