Rosa Barba
The works of Rosa Barba (*1972 in Agrigento, Italy, living in Berlin) are characterized by the conceptual examination of the medium film. She works with cinematographic situations and in her large-scale installations reassembles the medium film in its individual components image, language, light and mechanics on both narrative and perceptual levels. Just like in her work Footnote (... for a moment ...) (2014), analog film becomes the material and thus the medium of aesthetic reflection.
Most recently her works were shown, among others, at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (2015); Venice Biennale (2015; 2007); MIT, Boston (2015); Hong Kong Art Center (2015); Jeu de Paume, Paris (2012; 2010); Tate Modern, London (2010); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid (2010); Center of Contemporary Arts, Tel Aviv (2010).
