Harun Farocki: Lerne das Einfachste! Texte 2001–2014. Schriften. Band 6
Part of the edition Harun Farocki. Schriften. (edited by Marius Babias, Antje Ehmann, Tom Holert, Doreen Mende, Volker Pantenburg)
In the years 2001 to 2014, Harun Farocki’s work is increasingly recognized in the realm of contemporary art. International solo presentations and his participation in major exhibitions such as documenta 12 (2007) are accompanied by reflections on the changed conditions under which his production, now often organized in modular series, takes place. Farocki’s texts contextualize the work on the installation series Eye/Machine, Serious Games, and Parallel, as well as the elaborate 12-channel installation Deep Play analyzing the operational images of the 2006 World Cup finals. And they provide, reflecting on Respite and the workshop series Labor in a Single Shot, an opportunity to return to central themes such as the representation of the Nazi-camps as well as the status of work. In the summer of 2014, Farocki’s productivity, which had not diminished over 50 years, came to an abrupt end with his unexpected death.
Harun Farocki (1944–2014) is one of the most renowned German filmmakers. His oeuvre comprises about 100 agitational, documentary, essay, and fiction films of different scope. Moreover, Farocki was an internationally acclaimed video and installation artist, a gifted educator and a prolific writer.
