Jean-François Guiton
Jean-François Guiton (*1953 in Paris, lives in Bremen / Germany) studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Fritz Schwegler and Ursula Wevers and works with video, installation, photography, and music. Often shot with simple objects and materials from his immediate environment, his videos frequently revolve around a collision of logics. Guiton’s works are simultaneously narrative, literary, mythical, and self-referential, always referencing their own mediality. From 1998 to 2019, Guiton was professor of New Media at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen / Germany.
