Joëlle de La Casinière
The artistic practice of Joëlle de La Casinière (*1944 in Casablanca, lives in Brussels) is largely shaped by her life. In 1971, she sold her paintings, dissolved her household, and embarked on decades of extensive travel through South America, Central America, Canada, and Europe. During her first trip through South America, two strands emerged that continue to inform her work today. In addition to small image and text collages made from found objects and poetic, personal, and political notes – what the artist calls “Tablotins” – she creates videos that are often products of collaboration.
