Milovan DeStil Marković
In his work, Milovan DeStil Marković (*1957 in Čačak / Serbia, lives in Berlin) explores the possibilities and limits of visual representation, especially in relation to the human face as the center of a politics of representation. In a departure from figurative painting, he has been pursuing his concept of “transfigurative painting” since the mid-1990s. In his works, for example, he portrays famous female figures such as Madonna or Marina Abramović as monochrome images created with lipstick on Chinese velvet.
