FRANEK (Sabine Franek-Koch)


FRANEK (*1939 in Potsdam / Germany, lives in Berlin and Radegast / Germany) works with painting, drawing, and printmaking. Her practice also includes sculpture, photography, film, and documentaries. FRANEK has taught at the Universität der Künste Berlin; Aalto University – School of Arts, Design and Architectur in Helsinki; the LAB University of Applied Sciences – Institute of Design and Fine Arts in Lahti / Finland; and the Hochschule für Künste Bremen / Germany. Thanks to numerous travel and research grants, many of her works and large-scale projects have been created outside of Germany. In the 1970s and 1980s, for example, she focused her work on Indigenous groups in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Peru.
