Thomas Balzer (*1959 in Stuttgart / Germany, lives in Berlin) studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. His early work moves between media art and film; in 1985, he shot his first piece for television. To date, Balzer has made more than 50 documentaries, reportages, feature films, and experimental films for various public and private television stations. He also briefly produced works for independent television, receiving the German Television Award in 1998.
