Clemens von Wedemeyer
In his film and video works, Clemens von Wedemeyer (*1974 in Göttingen / Germany, lives in Berlin) explores concepts of cinema, the relationship between historical truth and storytelling, and the invisible presence of the “fourth wall” that separates viewers from events on the stage or screen so as to make illusion possible. The relationship between film, film production, and the audience is at the heart of his work, which often critically reflects on the practice of documentary film by revealing subjective elements and including what happens behind the camera. Wedemeyer also explores the conditions of historiography, questioning the role of collective and private memory in the context of moving images.
