Grimonprez combines found footage with his own material to create video collages that critique society and the media. Kobarweng or Where Is Your Helicopter takes the report about a visit by anthropologists to a remote mountain village in New Guinea as an occasion to reflect on the penetration of ethnology into foreign cultures. From the point of view of the village dwellers, the roles of observer and observed are exchanged and the anthropologists become the “other,” the “exotic” object of study.
