In Video Taping, Gusella takes the fact literally that tape is involved at every step in this early video: in the work, conceived as a split screen, he tapes over parts of a picture window, and in so doing structures what is seen by hand anew. He proceeds similarly in many of his brief video works, which, in the tradition of material explorations of classical avant-garde film, playfully and experimentally questioning the potentials of the video medium while at the same time operating with linguistic humor.
